1 Timothy 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
2 Timothy 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
UNFEIGNED, adjective Not feigned; not counterfeit; not hypocritical; real; sincere; as unfeigned piety to God; unfeigned love to man. (Webster’s Dictionary 1828)
If there was an unfeigned faith in Paul’s day, there must have been a feigned faith, an insincere fake faith. If it was happening in Paul’s day right after Jesus, when all the disciples who knew Him were going around teaching and performing miracles, how much more is it still present in these last days.
What is a feigned faith? It is a pretend faith. It is a fake show of faith to be seen of men. It is when you want to follow God, but don’t remove the high places or give Him your all. It is a counterfeit faith. It is when you are placing faith in something that is not God.
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Children are raised today not being taught values, and the importance of keeping their promises, and following through with things. If they don’t want to stick with something, they don’t have to. They are raised to make excuses. They are taught that their feelings are their law. They grow up flippant, unstable, and never wholly committed to anything.
God hates when people are in the middle. He would rather have them with their minds made up to not serve him, then playing games with their life and foolishly wavering in the middle. How much more careless can you be? He says it will profit them nothing.
Revelation 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
James 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
How many people today have an unfeigned faith? How many, if Paul was writing them a letter today, would he be able to say to them, I know the unfeigned faith that is within you? What if God was writing a letter to you? Would he say I know the unfeigned faith that is in you? Or would he say he knows you are lukewarm, and double minded.
Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Are you a shallow butterfly never thinking soberly about anything or is it your greatest desire to please the lord?
One thing is for sure, if you don’t put God at the forefront of your life, you will never inherit His blessings. You have to decide who you want to be.
