Psalm 45:13 “The King’s daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.”
At the foundation of our femininity is our calling to be a King’s daughter. There is no better way to begin, than right here at the basics of what it means to be a King’s daughter. As soon as we get saved, we become a daughter of God, the King of all the world. Who is a greater King than God? There is no higher honor than to be called God’s daughter and to be found worthy to reign with him as a queen in his coming kingdom. A real King’s daughter is the most glorious thing we could ever attain to be.
What does God desire for us to be as a King’s daughter? First, let’s think about how a princess of this world carries herself. Doesn’t she hold standards and have specific manners and graces that become a princess because her father is a king? She has a certain dignity and value in that she knows her father is a king, so she acts like it. She makes herself and her surroundings as beautiful as possible to suit her position as a King’s daughter. How much more should we, as daughters of God, try to make every aspect of our lives reflect it?
Most people would agree that once we are saved, we should begin a journey to be as much like God as we can. Of course, no one is perfect except for God, but we should all strive to be, because we are made in His image.
How do we reflect God in our lives?
People who see us should know without a doubt that we are followers of God. The first thing people notice about us is our outward appearance. We are living in an extremely casual culture. As King’s daughters we should dress not merely for comfort, but for our families, and to bring glory to the Lord. We should honor ourselves and not trash our bodies because the Holy Spirit dwells within us.
1 Corinthians 6:19 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
People are constantly watching us, whether we suspect it or not. As King’s daughters, our main purpose is to give God glory. We give Him glory by shining His light and sharing His ways to the world through everything we do and even who we are.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might;…”
We should strive to make our lives a reflection of God’s order, whether that be in our dress, in the order of our homes, our hearts, our actions or our minds. In a culture that is rapidly falling, these things that formulate beauty and joy, and bring glory to God, are losing value in the eyes of the selfish world.
The world is filled with confusion about our God given gender roles and so we are not learning what it means to be women any more. This is no new thing; it started right back in the Garden of Eden when God’s order was reversed and Eve led Adam to eat the forbidden fruit. However, it is thriving and is actually spinning more and more out of control, as we get further and further from God’s original design.
The issue starts in the heart. If we are wanting to know and be known by our heavenly King, we will be truly seeking to please Him and will be only too happy to find out His plan for us as women. That is, both His specific and generic will for our lives.
We want to be very careful, therefore, to search the matter out and to be diligent to find what pleases our Lord and King; both inwardly and outwardly. Every aspect of our lives we should bring under conformity with God’s design. And everything we do, we should do for God’s glory and with all our might.
1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
