What Is A Woman

We are living in a world that doesn’t even know how to define what a woman is. Because of satan’s agenda and the lies of feminism, women are finding themselves lost in a sea of confusion. Thankfully our God is not the author of confusion, and He is in no way confused about His design for His amazing and beautiful creation.

To define what a woman is, you have to believe that there is a design for women. To believe that there is a design for women you have to believe that there is a God who created the design. If you believe in God, you have to acknowledge that he has the power to create and define His design. If you love God, you will do everything you can to please Him by following His design and keeping His commands.

The devil can not just sit back and let God’s beautiful masterpiece design remain unhindered. That is why we are in the mess that we are in today. Since the very beginning, in the garden of Eden, he has been weaving his tangled web of lies.
Now women feel ashamed of who they were created to be. They look at each special gift and calling and even their natural desires as a curse.

Let us look at the basics of what a woman is through God’s eyes, not the eyes of our fallen culture.

Isaiah 5:20
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

Women’s primary purpose of creation, along with man, is to give God glory! We give Him glory by shining His light before the wicked, dark world. We shine His light by following His design found written throughout all sixty-six books of the Bible.

The first thing we see in the Bible is that women are created to be helpmeets for their husbands (Genesis chapter 2). The many ways women can help their husbands cannot all be written in detail here. Below are some of the main ones which we can glean from Proverbs 31.

Proverbs 31:11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

Proverbs 31:12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

Proverbs 31:23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

While not all women are called to be married, most are. The few who have been given the gift of singleness have a special service to the Lord as their specific calling.

1 Corinthians 7:34
There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

Women are also created to be mothers! They are created to be life-givers both physically and spiritually. As a midwife, I have the privilege of meeting many mothers, and I get to see them in their homes with their families. I get to watch the miracle of life grow inside of them and see their strength and the beauty of God’s design. A Godly mother will grow and build up her household and everyone else around her. Mothers teach and train and love the Lord’s children, and are very dear to His heart. Mothers heal and nurture, comfort and encourage. Whether women have children or not, they are called to be a mother; a mother to many. Deborah called herself a mother in Israel.

Judges 5:7
“The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.”

No one is deserving of more respect and honor, than a godly, virtuous woman.

Proverbs 31:28-29
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

What does she do to excel them all? What does God say the most amazing, strongest most virtuous woman does in Proverbs 31? She does her husband good and not evil, all the days of her life, and he can safely trust in her. She looks well to the ways of her household, and nothing is neglected by her. After she has completely cared for her household, she thinks about others and helps the poor and needy.
She takes care of herself and her health as well and works out her arms and abs (verse 17). She openeth her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness (26). Nothing ever comes out of her mouth that is in any way foolish or unkind! This is who God sets before us as an example, and who He gives us all the power to be as a King’s Daughter.

These are the primary purposes of women. Anything that distracts them from these things or hinders them in any way, is against God’s design. Women have to understand these things to walk in the fullness of The Lord’s design in their life as a woman and a King’s Daughter.
