We won’t always have time to sit and enjoy a puzzle or a hot cuppa, but it is so important that we retain that same mentality of enjoyment as we move through our daily lives. I too love to relax, but I have learned I can keep that same spirit even while in a hurry! My plate is constantly overfilled, and that’s ok! I will never have it all done, but that drives me to two choices:
1. I can let myself become a stressed out, overachiever, boss babe, mama-needs-coffee, tough woman.
-OR-
2. Ask God to help me get what truly needs to be done, finished. I can learn to prioritize, accept the imperfections when not everything “I” had planned gets done, and mentally learn to maintain a soft, feminine way of moving through His will.
God will guide us in many ways: through His Word, through our circumstances, through our husbands, children and community, and through our own experiences as well.
Learn to let God be in control and guide your priorities. For instance, I know if my children get sick, that caring for them and helping them to take medicine and to feel better will be my priority for that day. If my husband needs me to go on a trip with him somewhere, I obviously wouldn’t plan to bake cookies that day. An old lost neighbor, who we have been trying to witness to, showed up with ingredients one day and hinted that he’d like some cookies, so we made that a priority for that day! A verse that has helped me a lot is this one:
Philippians 4:11-13 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Paul had a much more challenging time of balancing all the things than I have, yet he was content!
1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
Let us be content with where God has us, and enjoy all of the good and the beauty He has placed around us. When we have to hurry, let us learn to do it diligently, because after all, we have a family of our own that we get to hurry for!
